Enjoy the night of San Juan 2018 with Aquabus

San Juan is approaching, the shortest night of the year, and we want that with it, the welcoming of summer is unforgettable. San Juan night is always special and magical, just as they sing in many songs. Thousands of people gather around the bonfires on the beaches. Bonfires that only the most daring will jump over, with the idea of always moving forward. On this night, the municipalities, neighbour and cultural associations organise activities such as concerts, children’s games, folkloric performances, the distribution of sangría, sardines, bunyols or the traditional macarrons of Sant Joan. In this post we put forward the different options that you can choose from to celebrate your San Juan night.

1. Sant Joan de Labritja

Sant Joan de Labritja especially stands out for its celebration of San Juan. You’ll find live music, discover craft market stalls and many other activities that will take place starting from midnight. The nine bonfires are lit in this tiny town and, according to the tradition, you must dare to jump all of them in order to start a new life and leave behind the old phase. All this while you savour a good payés wine and eat the typical “bunyols” as you contemplate the show.

2. Talamanca beach

Perhaps this is one of the best known options for celebrating the night of San Juan. It also counts on many live music shows. Next to the sea shore of Talamanca beach you’ll find a row of bonfires, around which groups of friends and families gather… people that are looking forward to a special dinner under the stars, cooking on the fire. Don’t forget to try the “macarrons of Sant Joan.” They’re a typical Ibizan sweet invented for the occasion. They’re offered for free throughout all of the afternoon and night.

3. Figueretas beach

Figueretas beach is the centre of the night of San Juan in Ibiza. Aquabus will relocate to Figueretas beach to make this event a memorable memory. Also, this year, given its great magnitude, the City Council will establish adequate spaces for the bonfires, will distribute firewood to those interested and will determine clean points for the collection of garbage in order to become not only the biggest party, but possibly also the cleanest.

This celebration consists of a huge bonfire where a multitude of people gather in order to participate in a wide range of activities: handicraft markets, workshops for children and adults, live music… Once the flames start, more than 400 portions of macarrons will be distributed. We can’t forget the traditional correfocs: a pyrotechnic show in which a “demon species” parades and launches fire, sowing “terror” along its path.

4. Concerts and ‘gaita pagesa’ in La Mola

This is the most significant celebration of Formentera. The party starts at 20:00 with the opening of the attractions for children, followed by a typical payés dance performed by the best live musicians and dancers, followed by the invitation to taste the bunyols. Later on, the typical Balearic peasant windpipe sets the mark for the beginning of the flames; following the party with the band “La rendición”.

5. Other activities in Santa Gertrudis or Puig d’en Valls

If you’re looking for something more relaxed, in Santa Gertrudis you’ll find special guests who’ll play classics of Spanish music around 22:00. If you’re traveling with your family, we suggest you attend the games and shows for children that will take place from 18:00.

In Puig d’en Valls, there’s also things to do for the youngest ones: there’re workshops and a macarron contest at 8 p.m. At eight thirty, don’t miss out the popular “sardinade” at the beat of the best music just before the bonfires are lit.
