Lights, camera and... Action! As in previous years, during the summer you can also enjoy open-air cinema in various locations in Ibiza.
It’s an interesting way to beat the heat on hot summer nights, with a classic film, a new release or an original version, which also includes comfortable seating and, in some cases… yummy popcorn! If you want to find out where you can enjoy an unforgettable cinema experience “al fresco”, continue reading!
Outdoor cinema Ibiza’s historic centre
Once again, this year, the company Cinema Paradiso is in charge of organising open-air film screenings in Dalt Vila, the old quarter of Ibiza Town.
The Baluarte de Sant Pere is one of the enclaves where, during the summer months, you can enjoy one open-air film session per week. In this location, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, you can see both classic films and new releases.
The truth is that being able to enjoy these screenings on the walls of the city’s boundaries is a unique experience. Better yet, you can enjoy it at a very affordable price: the ticket includes a pouffe or seat, a snack and a drink.
Outdoor cinema on the beach
Ibiza’s beaches are perfect for enjoying unforgettable moments during the day and, during the summer months, also at night. Some of Ibiza’s beaches temporarily host large cinema screens to offer a unique cinematic experience to locals and tourists alike.
Some of the beaches where you can enjoy open-air cinema are Talamanca, Cala Llonga and Figueretas. This film season will be held during the summer months, until September, and will feature classic, cult and premiere screenings, aimed at all audiences.
In past editions we have seen a wide variety of screenings, such as Matrix Resurrection, Cruella or Raya i l'Últim Drac. These film sessions usually start at 22:00 and some of them are free of charge.
Outdoor cinema in other venues
Open-air cinema sessions are also organised in other unique venues, such as the Amante restaurant, located in Cala Llonga; the Atzaró Agroturismo Hotel; or in the Boutique Hotel Petunia, in Cala Carbó.
At the Amante restaurant you can enjoy open-air cinema in a truly spectacular setting. Amante Movie Nights include the screening of the film, a comfortable, oversized seat, as well as popcorn and a glass of cava. It’s best to book in advance to secure your place.
You can also relax on luxury sun loungers at the Atzaró Agroturismo Hotel. Tickets for open-air film screenings also include popcorn and a welcome drink. Just bear in mind that all films are shown in English with Spanish subtitles. Some of the films scheduled for this summer are Sunset Boulevard, A Roman Holiday, Ghost and Casablanca, among others.
And, finally, another venue for open-air cinema is the Petunia Boutique Hotel, located in a magnificent enclave in Cala Carbó. You will be able to live an incomparable experience, surrounded by centenary olive trees and with the backdrop of views over the islet of Es Vedrà. Can you imagine?
