Discover Cala d’Hort: a beach of white sand and crystal-clear waters
In the Cala d'Hort Natural Park, located in the municipality of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, you’ll find this beautiful beach of white sand and crystal-clear waters. It’s a great place to lose yourself in Ibiza, enjoy the peace and quiet and contemplate one of the best sunsets on the island, with the islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell as a backdrop.
If you want to know all there is to know about Cala d’Hort, keep on reading!
Cala d’Hort beach
Cala d’Hort is a small beach protected by impressive cliffs and with a magnificent setting, from where you can enjoy unbeatable views of the islet of Es Vedrà.
With a rockier area on the one hand and one with finer sand on the other, this beach is known for its natural beauty. During the summer season it tends to be quite busy, so we recommend that you go early in the morning and, if possible, avoid weekends, as this is when you’ll find the biggest crowds.
Furthermore, despite being protected by cliffs, during days of strong winds this beach stands out for its swell, being a place of reference for surf lovers. Thanks to the transparency of its waters and its great marine wealth, Cala d’Hort is also a perfect beach for snorkelling and diving.
Finally, if you’re looking for a place where you can stop time and watch a beautiful sunset... this is the place for you! You can go to the viewpoint that you’ll find just before going down to the cove. From here, the panoramic view of Es Vedrà is simply fabulous.
Services offered in Cala d’Hort
Despite being a small beach, this cove offers a wide variety of services, such as sun loungers and parasols for hire, several restaurants and the occasional shop.
In Cala d’Hort you can enjoy Ibizan gastronomy: try the fresh fish or rice dishes at the El Carme restaurant; paella with red shrimp at Es Boldadó, located at the top of the cliffs; or bullit de peix with a banda rice at the Cala d’Hort restaurant.
Cala d’Hort Natural Reserve
Impressive cliffs and unspoilt beaches... This is what you’ll find in the Cala d’Hort Nature Reserve: an exceptional place for discovering the great wealth of flora and fauna of Ibiza, or for visiting some places of interest, such as, for example, the Es Savinar Tower, from where you can watch a unique sunset, or Ses Païsses de Cala d’Hort, a Punic-Roman settlement dating back to the 5th century BC. They’re all definitely worth your time!
This natural park, in addition to Cala d’Hort, is home to the beaches of Cala Carbó and Cala Vedella, as well as the islets of Es Vedrà, Es Vedranell, Sa Conillera, S’Illa des Bosc, S’Espartar and Ses Bledes.
Es Vedrà, Es Vedranell and the islets of Ponent
The stretch of coast on which Cala d’Hort is located forms part of the Natural Reserve of Es Vedrà, Es Vedranell and the islets of Ponent, with a great variety of protected species, both flora and fauna. Amongst the latter, the Eleonor’s falcon stands out the most. The islet, at an altitude of almost 400 metres, is characterised by its high ecological value and for being a refuge for many species of birds.
Although access to the islets is prohibited, the views from the beach are the main attraction for locals and tourists alike. This is because the islet of Es Vedrà is considered an energy source that stands out for its magical properties, which envelop it in an interesting halo of mystery. It’s worth noting that all kinds of legends and inexplicable stories have been told about it.
If you want to get a closer look at the islet of Es Vedrà, a good idea is to rent a boat and sail around it: a great way to spend a wonderful day in Ibiza!
