A stroll around Ibiza and Formentera’s best coves
Discovering the most beautiful beaches and coves of Ibiza and Formentera is the closest thing to touching the sky with your fingertips. Get ready to discover a paradise on Earth, where you can fall in love with the beauty of the surroundings and enjoy unique moments.
Its golden sands and intense turquoise blue waters will make you want to get lost in them and never leave. Here are some of the best coves in Ibiza and Formentera, perfect for relaxing, swimming, diving, snorkelling, nudism or sunbathing in the best company. Don’t miss them!
The most beautiful coves in Ibiza
Cala Comte
Cala Comte, located near the town of Sant Antoni, will treat you to an idyllic landscape, impossible to forget. It is a popular beach, both for its golden sands and transparent waters, as well as for its spectacular sunsets.
This cove, together with the cove of Racó d’en Xic, are part of the beaches of Comte, located in front of several islets that make up a setting of great beauty. Although it is usually very crowded with tourists, especially during the summer months, this beach is one of the must-visit places during your holiday on the islands.
Cala Saladeta
If you’re looking for a more intimate beach in Ibiza, Cala Saladeta may be an excellent option for you. It’s a cove of great beauty, located in an enclosed bay, very close to the beach of Cala Salada and famous for its calm atmosphere.
Surrounded by an exceptional environment with very little urbanisation, Cala Saladeta is one of the beaches most appreciated by tourists. While its neighbouring Cala Salada, with a more family atmosphere, has a shower service and easy access, Cala Saladeta does not have any services and is somewhat quieter. You can access it from Cala Salada by following the path along the rocks, or from the stairs that descend from the cliff to the sea.
Cala Bassa
If you are looking for a beach in Ibiza to go with children, you cannot miss Cala Bassa. It’s a beach with a family atmosphere, a large sandy area and very calm, shallow waters, with barely any currents.
In addition, you’ll find a wide variety of services and many shaded areas where the little ones can play and protect themselves from the sun.
It’s worth mentioning that Cala Bassa is one of the beaches in Ibiza awarded with the Blue Flag, a distinction that, among other things, recognises the quality of the environment and the services offered by the beach.
More coves in Ibiza that you can’t miss out on
There are many coves in Ibiza that deserve special attention, which is why it’s impossible to mention them all. However, in addition to the ones we have listed above, we recommend you visit Cala Nova, very close to Es Canar; Cala Gració, close to Sant Antoni and ideal for children; Punta Galera or Aigües Blanques, perfect for nudism; and Cala d'Hort or Cala Tarida, among many others.
Formentera’s best coves
The island of Formentera has many beaches and coves, all of them of exceptional beauty and with a paradisiacal setting. It’s impossible to choose just one!
Caló d'es Mort
One of the best beaches you’ll find in Formentera is Caló d'Es Mort, located about ten kilometres from Sant Francesc Xavier, in the southern part of the island. This beach with crystal-clear, shallow waters stands out for the fact that it’s always protected from the wind and tides. It’s perfect for snorkelling, diving and nudism.
Other impressive coves in Formentera
Also outstanding in Formentera are Ses Illetes Beach, located within the Ses Salines d’Eivissa i Formentera Natural Park, and considered by many to be the best beach in the world; Cala Saona, one of the best coves in Ibiza for watching the sunset; Cala d'en Borràs, with calm, shallow waters and views of the islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell; and Ses Platgetes, with crystal-clear waters and located very close to the village of Es Caló.
As you can see, variety is the spice of life, and in both Ibiza and Formentera, you are sure to find the perfect beach for you.
