3 tips for enjoying an unforgettable summer in Ibiza and Formentera

People say that there's an Ibiza and a Formentera for every traveller... And how right they are! The island of Ibiza, for example, is known for its nightlife, partying and trendy nightclubs. However, it hasn’t become one of the world’s top tourist destinations just for its party nights.

Both the island of Ibiza and the island of Formentera are home to countless treasures that deserve to be discovered. They offer a wide variety of plans for all kinds of people, tastes and preferences. Imagine what you want your trip to the islands to be like and keep these tips in mind to make the most of your holiday.

Choose the right season for your trip to Ibiza and Formentera

If you have the chance to choose your holiday dates, organising your dream trip to the islands will be easier for you. The experience will not be the same if you travel during the high season than if you travel during the months of October to May, for example.

If you travel during the months of July and August, the islands are overcrowded and, wherever you go, you will always have to swim between large crowds of tourists. In addition, it’s harder to find bargains and the prices really soar. Nevertheless, it’s the best time to enjoy the sun and the beach, as the weather is more stable and temperatures are warmer. It is also a good time to enjoy the bars, discos and beach clubs which, during the summer months, are at their best.

On the other hand, if you want to escape the crowds and enjoy a quieter time, you’ll be much better off travelling to Ibiza and Formentera in the low season, from October to April. Just bear in mind that, during this time of year, the number of cloudy or even rainy days is likely to be higher, and many of the services that are at their full capacity during the summer work at 'half throttle'. Another alternative is to travel in mid-season or during the months of May, June and September, a middle ground between the high and low seasons.

Plan well what you want to see in Ibiza and Formentera

Especially if you’re only travelling to Ibiza and Formentera for a few days, you’ll need to plan your stay well in order to get the most out of it.

Some must-see places in Ibiza that you cannot miss out on are: the old town of Ibiza Town, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and full of interesting buildings and charming corners; the beaches of Comte, with turquoise waters and magnificent views of the islets of Es Bosc, Sa Conillera, Ses Bledes and s’Espartar; the Ses Salines Natural Park, which is home to a large part of the islands’ Posidonia oceanica meadows; or Cala d'Hort, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Es Vedrà, Ibiza’s most enigmatic islet.

You can also visit the street markets, do water sports or discover some of Ibiza’s most beautiful villages, such as Es Cubells, Santa Gertrudis or Santa Agnès de Corona.

And, if you want to spend a day in Formentera, we’ll be happy to take you there! You’ll enjoy a quick and comfortable trip from Ibiza to the port of La Sabina. Once there, we recommend you visit some of the island’s best beaches, such as Ses Illetes or Migjorn, Caló d’Es Mort, La Mola lighthouse and the well-known Cap Barbaria lighthouse.

Don’t miss the best sunsets in Ibiza and Formentera

You can’t end your trip to the islands without first contemplating the great show of light and colour that accompanies every single sunset, both in Ibiza and Formentera.

They are all spectacular, but there are some places where the sunset will honestly leave you speechless. In Ibiza, you can enjoy the magic of the moment to the sound of drums in Benirràs; on the Torre del Pirata (the Pirate’s Tower) or Cala d’Hort, both with views of the islet of Es Vedrà; on the Ses Variades promenade in Sant Antoni; or on the beaches of Cala Vadella, Cala Tarida or Punta Galera.

In Formentera, you can enjoy the most special sunsets from the Cap de Babaria lighthouse, the viewpoint of La Mola, Ses Illetes beach, Cala Saona or Migjorn beach.
